Inventory Manager - Alvarado, TX    Apply
Responsibilities: Effectively utilize available resources to meet the inventory control needs of the facility. Ensures that department objectives are met along with safety, project, cost and quality factors to enhance the operating efficiency of the organization. Demonstrate high performance standards characterized by integrity and a positive attitude.
Requirements:
  • Maintains an accurate perpetual inventory and maintains data within the ERP system.
  • Creates a dedicated forklift route plan.
  • Utilizes planning and organizational skills in coordination of the inventory team to effectively maximize their time in support of the facilities objectives.
  • Analyze physical inventory, establish and maintain inventory discrepancy investigations and generate appropriate reporting to maintain adequate inventory levels and appropriate control (min – max).

Inventory Associate - Alvarado, TX    Apply
Responsibilities: This position is responsible for the receiving of incoming material, verification of accurate receipt of material, and accurate bin placement.
Requirements:
  • Verifies material received meets the purchase order’s requirements and specifications.
  • Reviews discrepancies and works with Receiving, Purchasing, Quality, and/or Vendor to reconcile errors.

Machine Operator – PED 60 - Alvarado, TX    Apply
Responsibilities: Under the direction of the supervisor and his appointed lead person, operates the Ped 60 machine with oxy-fuel and plasma torches to produce pole shaft trapezoids, base plates, and other parts.
Requirements:
  • Reads daily workloads to determine what parts and shafts are required, and prioritizes according to constraint and shipping buffers.
  • Determines what materials are needed, checks materials on hand, and orders any other materials needed from stores.
  • Instructs material handler on what material to load and/or unload, which material to return to stores, how to load table to maximize productivity.
  • Checks material for grade, thickness, and size.
  • Color-codes parts as required per routing.
  • Reads prints, determines tolerances, and checks parts against prints to ensure quality of parts being cut. Based on the appearance and quality of parts being produced, makes appropriate adjustments to the processes, such as travel speed, tip size, tip replacement, gas pressures, kerf compensation, torch height, and other factors as needed to produce the desired quality.
  • Performs all functions associated with operation of the CNC shape cutting machine. Start-up and shutdown procedures. Transfer of programs to and from the host computer, setting up the programs to produce required parts, originating programs from standard shapes, modifying programs from oxy-fuel to plasma and from plasma to oxy-fuel, adjusting kerf settings.
  • Understands all functions on CNC, i.e. plasma cutting tips/nozzle size and speed charts, oxy-fuel cutting tips and gas pressures, kerf settings, amperage settings, standard shapes, keyboard to computer, and appropriate instruction manuals.
  • Performs daily, weekly, and monthly operator preventive maintenance.
  • Communicates problems with CNC shape cutter or any other equipment to lead man, supervisor, and/or maintenance to ensure problem resolution.
  • Uses knowledge of the machine and its characteristics to assist maintenance personnel in maintaining and trouble shooting its system.
  • Uses and understands measuring instruments, i.e. tape measure, level, protractor, and micrometer.
  • Determines optimum plate utilization to minimize scrap.

Machine Operator - Alvarado, TX    Apply
Responsibilities: The Fabricator works under the direction of Tower Shop Supervisor, and performs machine set-up for multiple machines (Quick Drill, Press Brake, Plasma, Cut/Punch Machine, etc). Duties include, but are not limited to, operating overhead crane, machine PM’s, verifying parts to prints, verifying the material used for parts to print, and positioning plates on the press for forming.
Requirements:
  • Uses common shop mathematics to compute the necessary angles and dimensions required.
  • Read tape measure, angle finder, and other necessary measuring devices.
  • Read blueprints and flat sheets to lay out work within tolerances to assure accuracy and to meet required specifications and department quality standards.
  • Uses overhead bridge cranes to load and unload press, requiring acceptable levels of eye, hand and foot coordination.
  • Adjusts to different depth and tilt settings on the press to proper positions to meet tolerances and various specifications.
  • Reads and understands labor reporting system, and uses same to report work accomplished, as well as any needed shop or productivity reports.

Welder Lead - Alvarado, TX    Apply
Responsibilities: The lead person works under the direction of the Tower Shop Supervisor to provide training, guidance and direction to assigned employees in an efficient, clean, safe, and cost effective manner in order to achieve the goals and key performance metrics of the company’s objectives. This position is responsible for all activities related to the coordination, organization, and control of producing shafts and component parts for jobs in a cost effective, timely, and quality manner based off of production goals and customer commitment dates.
  • Serves as a “Working Lead Person”
  • Responsible for overseeing and delegating daily task to assigned production employees.
  • Efficiently use the company’s computer system (EPICOR/Vantage - MES), to collect labor hours and track process information on each job.

Design Engineer 1 - STS - Alvarado, TX    Apply
Responsibilities: Design Engineer I is responsible for the interpretation of customer specifications, creating optimum design of structures and their components, and providing technical information to other departments.
  • Design Engineer I is responsible for the interpretation of customer specifications, developing design proposal of structures, processing orders by using the company's approved related design procedures and computer software, supporting PLS POLE and CAD drawing preparation and collaborating with manufacturing on processes and procurement.
  • Communications with customers, which may include customer contact by phone, letter, fax, email and in person, are required.
  • For training purposes, the Design Engineer I may perform more complex structural analysis and design to develop higher engineering knowledge and abilities.
  • Design Engineer I needs to attend different meetings (technical, pre-bid meeting, conference calls, trainings, safety, STS Quarterly All Call Meeting, etc...).

  • Two to four years of experience in structural design and analysis of electrical transmission steel pole structures and their components is preferred.

I Beam Scheduler - Alvarado, TX    Apply
Responsibilities: Under the supervision and direction of the Plant Superintendent, this position is responsible for assisting with the planning, coordinating and reviewing of all activities related to company goals involving production planning and scheduling to satisfy all customer requirements and company objectives.
  • Schedules all incoming customer sales orders while monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on any deviations concerning lead times and productions rates.
  • Logically and accurately schedules all finished goods and components through all phases of the manufacturing areas for both long-range and short-range production plans.
  • Develops and maintains the Material Planning Schedules, long and short-range production plans, long and short-range capacity requirements and provides liaison support between marketing and manufacturing.
  • Ensures on-time shipments of all customer orders as required by sales and maintains accurate and precise constraint schedules to guarantee the highest level of throughput is realized.

Material Handler - Blaster - Alvarado, TX    Apply
Responsibilities: Under the direction of the Supervisor and Lead person, operates various types of material handling equipment to move product to, from, and within the large pole powder coating facility, and performs abrasive blasting to prepare products for application of powder or liquid coatings, and for wrapping painted products for shipment.
  • Reads and interprets daily workloads to determine what parts and shafts are required, and prioritize according to shipping buffer.
  • Determines what products are needed, locates and identifies products to be brought in for painting.
  • Occasionally operates forklift truck and straddle truck to move products into painting facility.
  • Sort product to be painted according to finish required and size of parts in order to get efficient use of the equipment.
  • Uses overhead crane and lowerator to load products for conveying through the blasting and painting processes.
  • Operates conveyor system to move rail dollies to successive stages of blasting, spray coating, and oven curing.
  • Operates and maintains conveyors and elevator for recycling steel grit, and air filtration system for purifying air to be exhausted from the blasting chamber.
  • Monitors level of blasting media in the storage hopper, and add material when needed.
  • Manually wraps finish painted poles after product has exited the oven and cooled. Operate semi-automatic wrapper to wrap small pole products.

Long Seam Welder - Alvarado, TX    Apply
Responsibilities: Under the direct supervision of the Tower Shop Supervisor and his appointed Lead, the Long Seam Welder uses specified welding processes and procedures to achieve 100% penetration welds for specified lengths of each shafts seam within prescribed codes, and according to prescribed procedures, specifications, and drawings.
  • Performs visual inspection of the entire length of each seam to identify areas requiring repair.
  • Reads and interprets drawings and/or computer print out “flatsheets” to determine requirement for 100% penetration welds.
  • Grinds and/or air-arc gouges areas as necessary in preparation for welding.
  • Adjusts welding machine to achieve desired results within parameters of established welding procedures.
  • Using specified welding process (FCAW, GMAW, and/or SAW,) welds required areas to obtain 100% penetration.
  • Reads and interprets applicable specifications and welding codes and procedures to determine preheat requirements. Uses oxy-fuel heating torch to preheat work specified temperature. Uses instruments provided to measure temperature of the material.
  • Reads and interprets work orders and daily production schedules. Writes entries on daily production log to show work completed.
  • Uses overhead crane to position work in pole-rollers and to move completed poles to designated areas.
  • Adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides feet, inches, fractions, and decimals. Uses tables to convert fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions.
  • Visually inspects his/her work to assure that welds have been completed satisfactorily in accordance with applicable drawings, specifications, and codes.
  • Assists and instructs other welders when needed to overcome deficiencies in quality and/or productivity.
  • Wears protective equipment including safety glasses, insulated welding gloves, leather sleeves, and/or cape, face shield, and welding hood to protect himself from hot metal, arc rays, grinding debris, and other potentially harmful conditions.
  • Inspects end of poles for straightness and squareness of edge cuts. Trims and/or grinds as necessary, in order to leave ends suitable for shipment to customer, or for fit up base plates.
  • Uses power drills to drill and/or ream holes in pole sections as required by drawings.
  • Welds other products in his or her area using either FCAW or GMAW process.
  • Assembles two piece developments.
  • Determines amperage and voltage settings, feed rate settings, required weld procedures, weld size and amount of penetration required.
  • Grinds and/or cleans seams to ensure the required penetration and necessary UT quality weld.
  • Performs daily, weekly, monthly operator preventive maintenance on seam weld machine.
  • Adjust amperage, voltage, speed rates, and machine pressures constantly throughout the welding process to compensate for variations from the cutting and bending operations and the material variations.
Requirements:
  • Must be able to pass AWS Certification test.
  • Must have knowledge of basic shop mathematics, addition, subtraction, fractions, multiplication and decimals.
  • Proficiency in reading complex prints and specifications.
  • Must know how to properly use a weld gauge.

Welder/Fitter - STS - Alvarado, TX    Apply
Responsibilities: Qualified individuals will be responsible to perform the following duties. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Uses the Flux Core Arc Welding process to tack weld various small components to round or formed shafts to make a pole assembly for the welder to weld. The pole assembly generally consists of a round tube or formed shaft, baseplate, hand hole, arm mounting simplex, tenon top, vangs, step lugs, ladder clips, and/or other small parts.
  • Works on individual fitter station to assemble pole assembly. Assists material handlers in loading round tube or formed shaft on individual fitter station.
  • Reads and interprets drawings to determine parts needed to assemble pole assembly. Locates and gathers Storeroom Personnel staged parts needed for assembly from parts staging area. Frequently pushes, pulls, and lifts up to 50 pounds.
  • Reads and interprets drawings to assure proper location of various small part attachments. Layout various locations on round tube or formed shaft based upon interpretation of drawings and specifications.
  • Uses measuring tape, level, square, and angle finders to measure distances and angles. Adds, subtracts, multiplies, and divides feet, inches, fractions, and decimals. Uses table to convert fractions to decimals and decimals to fractions.
  • Uses plasma torch and oxy-fuel torch to cut steel. Uses jigs for laying out vang slots and for cutting holes in shafts for inserting hand hole rims, arm mounting simplex, couplings, and other small parts.
  • Uses motorized grinders, motorized buffers, stone grinders, and drills to help assemble pole assembly according to prescribed specifications, codes and drawing.
  • Operates oxy-fuel torch to preheat parts prior to welding. Reads codes and specifications to determine proper temperature and uses instruments provided to measure temperature.
  • Uses pneumatic drills and magnetic drills to drill and ream various sizes holes in poles as required by the drawing.
  • Uses overhead crane to load finished poles into bolsters for transportation out of the pole assembly area.
  • Assists and instructs other welders and fitters when needed to overcome deficiencies in quality and/or productivity.
Requirements:
  • Must be able to pass AWC Certified Weld test.
  • Must have knowledge of basic shop mathematics
  • Must be able to demonstrate the ability read complex print and able to pass blueprint/measurement/math test
  • Must have prior experience and able to demonstrate the ability to use welding and plasma cutter, torch, large industrial forklift and overhead crane

Shipping and Receiving - Material Handler - Alvarado, TX    Apply
Responsibilities: Responsible for the movement of raw, in-process, and finished materials during production of products.
  • Unload steel plate trailers
  • Must be able to accurately identify raw material needed to supply to production.
  • Uses 36,000lb forklifts and other heavy equipment to move various sizes of steel plates and poles.
  • Moves in-process and finished poles to appropriate area in yard.
  • Abides by all Safety Standards and Policies including use of all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

Mechanical & Electrical Manufacturing Maintenance - Alvarado, TX    Apply
Responsibilities: Qualified individual will perform all maintenance duties as directed by the Maintenance Lead. Maintain, troubleshoot, fabricate, and conduct preventative maintenance on all equipment as required.
Requirements:
  • Prior experience working on, troubleshooting and maintaining overhead cranes both mechanical and electrical required.
  • Ability to read schematics required.
  • Must be familiar with all the equipment in order to maintain the equipment as required by the equipment supplier and Sabre operating guidelines.
  • Perform routine and preventative maintenance on all equipment.
  • Fabricate necessary jigs, stands, racks, and specialized equipment, etc. as required.
  • Work with and/or supervise specialized contract labor as required.
  • Follow all maintenance schedules developed by the Maintenance Lead or the equipment manufacturer without compromise.
  • Make recommendations to improve production flow, equipment performance, quality of product, and cost efficiency.
  • Ensure machinery, tools, and equipment are in good working order, assists in solving quality problems, perform data collection, monitor processes, and product control as identified.
  • Communicate to the appropriate personnel any unusual operating conditions and/or safety concerns.
  • Ensure quality product is being produced at the standard rate while minimizing scrap and downtime.
  • Attend all specialized training courses as deemed necessary for equipment and/or repair.
Job Requirements:
  • Three years of maintenance experience in a manufacturing environment highly preferred.
  • Prior Galvanizing experience is desired but not a requirement.
  • Working knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations.
  • Effectively and safely utilizes ladders, man lifts, forklifts, overhead cranes, monorails, etc.
  • Must be able to work in an open environment exposed to extreme temperatures
  • Must be able to obtain STS Forklift/Crane Certification
  • Must be able to lift 75 lbs.
  • Must be physically able to climb stairs and ladders.
  • Capable of working at elevated heights up to 60'.
  • Capable of working in hazardous environments such as acid containment areas and high temperature areas.
  • Able to perform duties in confined areas wearing all necessary P.P.E. including protective clothing and respirators.
  • Must be available 12 hour shifts 7am to 7pm or 7pm to 7am as needed. Every other weekend required and additional time as required if equipment is down.

Maintenance B - Alvarado, TX    Apply
Responsibilities: The incumbent of this position performs highly skilled and highly technical work involving installation, maintenance, and trouble shooting of hydraulic, mechanical, and pneumatic equipment.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on all plant equipment and facilities.
  • Performs diagnosis, testing, disassembly, inspecting, repair and re-assembly of plant equipment or components such as hydraulic and pneumatic cylinders, hydraulic shear, vacuum equipment, roller leveler, cranes, etc.
  • Performs skilled trouble shooting and servicing of pneumatic and hydraulic components.
  • Performs proper replacement and/or adjustment of mechanical clutches, drive trains, etc.
  • Repair of worn parts, straightens and fabricates fixtures (welding, cutting, brazing, and surface hardening applications).
  • Assist junior personnel and operators in proper direction of equipment repairs.
  • Ability to perform major and general repairs on all equipment.
  • Required to record labor and material used on each repair made.
  • Required to take proper care and use of test equipment.
  • Required to properly use lift equipment (cranes, booms, manlifts, cherry picker, etc.)
  • Exercise communication skills pertaining to the job.
  • Occasionally will be called during irregular hours to handle production coverage with little or no supervision.
  • Reports all abnormal conditions and safety hazards to supervisor.
  • Will perform housekeeping and other routine tasks as directed.
  • Is diligent at all times to work safely, and to follow safe working practices, including Lockout/Tagout procedures and other safety procedures.
  • Lifting, carrying, bending, kneeling, stretching, stooping, and working in awkward and/or confined positions.
Requirements:
  • Must have knowledge of basic shop mathematics, addition, subtraction, fractions, multiplication and decimals.
  • At least three years in Maintenance in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English.
  • Ability to read and comprehend basic hydraulic, pneumatic, and structural schematics.
  • Ability to convert inch to metric.
  • Ability to use gauging equipment from .001” up, dial indicators, micrometers, feeler gauges, etc.
  • Climbing (heights to 40’), lifting, bending, kneeling, crawling, stretching, and working in confined areas and awkward positions.
  • Handling gearboxes on top of machines, changing brakes, motors on cranes, etc. Average weight of object handled is 30 lbs. normally standing or stooping. Percentage of workday in each position is climbing 5%, bending or kneeling 10%, stooping 10%, standing or walking 75%.
